You may have seen Jenny and me walking, wandering, collecting and carrying things at the beach, - that's where it all begins.
Deeply grounded in that which has been offered up by the land and shaped by the sea, my process based approach is more interested in revealing a presence than creating one.
Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, I grew up on the beaches of Coos and Curry Counties; where I am a full time studio artist today. After receiving my B.A. from The Evergreen State College, hot glass classes at Pratt Fine Arts Center, summers at Pilchuck Glass School, and years in Norway, I returned to the Southern Oregon Coast. Here, in the raw dramatic landscape, a compelling presence continues to inform and define my work as it evolves in a range of materials and media: raw / refined, ancient / modern, primitive / contemporary.
My work has been shown in museums and galleries on the West Coast, the Southwest and Chicago, and can be found in public and private collections worldwide.
Presently, a new Muse has found me, and it is kelp.
